The Computer & People People

Whenever you consider a move -- be it cross-country or across the world -- you face a lot of decisions. These are the kind of decisions that have always been difficult to make long distance. Where will we live? Where will my kids go to school? What will the neighborhood look like?

If you didn’t have a friend, family member or awesome real estate agent on your side, moving to a new town was like walking off the edge of a cliff, with no idea how far down you might fall.

The Internet is loaded with sites designed specifically to aid in relocating to a new community. You can check out everything from local schools (most have their own web sites now) to city services. You can find out about parks and recreation to shopping and hospitals.(See our Consumer Services Department for details about the Emerald Coast.)

Now cybervisitors can take virtual "walk-throughs" of home and communities. (A 360-degree vista of the room pans across the screen, giving you the feeling of being in the room slowly turning around in a circle.) As your mouse moves across the room, you may notice the sudden appearance of red targets in doorways. These are “hot spots” and by clicking on one when it appears will transport you into the tour of another, adjacent room. Another way to “navigate” through the tour is a “clickable” floorplan. Click on the dot located within each room which has a tour and that tour will load onto your screen.

The benefits for the builder include a permanent and real 3-D presentation of each model in their catalog which offers more detail and participation than regular photographs or brochures. For the consumer, being able to take a tour through a variety of models and neighborhoods before moving will save time and money and frustration.

Built4u.com is pleased to present the virtual tours of our member showcase builders and communities. Enjoy!
